3 of the girls and the owner of a 4th plus several friends were in attendance. The dogs wearing their party hats dug into meatloaf cake
with mashed potatoe icing while their humans had real cake. A fun time was had by all.

Rave finishes her Championship by taking Best of Opposite both days entered - thank you to my friend Sue Wilkinson for handling her while
I was busy with Dani. Dani was Best of Breed both days and Dani and Raves daughter Annie was Best Puppy both days she was entered!!

May 7-12 US Bernese Mountain Dog National Specialty show in Gettysburg PA.
Traveled down to this well attended show (690 dogs entered!) with my friend Sue Wilkinson.
I had Dani entered in conformation and he won his class!!! What a thrill it was to compete for Winners Dog with the cream of the crop of the males - the company in the ring was awesome!!!
Dani also was invited to the two judges education seminars.
Dani and Rave's daughter Khloe was entered in both sweeps and regular classes for her age group (6-9 months). Khloe did very well making the cut in the sweeps class and then taking a 3rd place in the regular class from a large entry of 32 bitch puppies! Khloe is a good sized girl with nice bone and really super conformation and boy can she move - I see a lot of promise in this young girl.

Khloe at 7 months and her daddy Dani in Gettyburg
Janyse earned a rally leg with Sue at the helm - and also learned to roll down a hill just like a little kid. She accidentally rolled down a small hill while we were having a little picnic lunch during our drive to the show - of course we laughed at her and you could see the light bulb go on and she ran back up the hill and rolled down again, and again and again. It was tooooo funny!!!
We had a wonderful time with our dogs and lots of great Berner friends!! We are considering making the long trek to Colorado next year......
Oct. 1st 2011
Granite CDX !!!Granite completed his CDX in grand style with a High in Class. I am so proud of my boy he worked really well for me!!
Now we are on to Utility training - or is it Futility?

Granite earning his CDX
Granite was rated as the number 1 Bernese in obedience until his half sister Janyse surpassed his scores - so Janyse and Granite were the #1 and #2 Top obedience Bernese in Canada in 2011 according to "Canuck Dogs" - we are awaiting official notice from CKC which won't be until later in the summer of 2012.
June 2011
We had our Canadian National and Regional Specialty show on the weekend of June 3rd, 4th ,and 5th. I was one of the show chairs along with my friend Sue Wilkinson. It was a ton of work but also lots of fun.
The Wagenblast dogs present did quite well overall.
Greti (Ch. Black Mt. Greti Wagenblast CD DD CGN) was shown in the Veteran classes and was Best Female in both Sweeps and Regular classes. She and I had a blast in the ring - she is such fun to show!!

Greti's daughters also had good success.
Anne Willis' Ch. Wagenblast's Gytha v Gelbachler HIC earned her Rally Novice title from the B class.
Sue Wilkinson and Wagenblast's Ivaila Janyse TD TDX RN RA had earned a Rally Excellent title a week or so earlier but had fun in the pretty girl ring in the Altered classes where Janyse was Best Altered in both the National and Regional Specialty adding more points to her Altered Ch. quest.

A week later Janyse hit a milestone for Bernese in Canada by being the VERY FIRST Bernese in Canada to earn her Urban Tracking Dog Title!!! Very capably trained by Sue Wilkinson of course!!!

Greti's grandson Gelbachler Dani v Wagenblast "Dani" won his classes in sweeps and regular at both Specialties and got a nice look in the lineup for Winners Dog at the Regional - these were his first shows. While I handled him for sweeps at the National his cobreeder Anne Willis took him in for the regular classes and did a really nice job - Thanks Anne!
After all this I received some news of a grandaughter of Greti's earning her first Obedience title in the US. "Mel B" (bred by Patricia Hughes) and her trainer/handler Fiona (Pat's grandaughter) did a great job and made all the grandma's proud. Way to go girls!!

Ch. Wagenblast's Gytha v Gelbachler earned her Herding Instinct Certificate. Also her son "Gus" who is a littermate to my Dani earned his Herding Instinct Certificate that day.

We were off to the Bernese Mountain Dog Club of Ontario Specialty held in Port Hope Ontario. I took young Dani along. He was just 5 months old so too young to show but he had LOTS of fun getting greeting anyone that came near enough for a pat or cuddle - he was quite well known by the end of the weekend. He was a great traveler and motel guest on his first weekend away.
More Janyse news - she was Best of Opposite in Altered for her first official CKC point at the BMDCO Provincial specialty Oct. 3rd. She also qualified for a second leg in Rally despite looking around for Grandma cuddles.
Sept. 19th 2010
Brought another tracking title for Wagenblast's Ivaila Janyse and
her owner/handler Sue Wilkinson. This time Janyse qualified for her TDX

May 2010
In May Rave and I traveled to Wisconsin with our friend Sue
Wilkinson to the Bernese Mountain Dog Club of America's National Specialty
show. Rave was shown in Futurity, Sweeps and Regular classes. She showed
quite well for me and was 3rd in a very large Futurity class, and was
considered for placement in the even larger Sweeps class for her age group.
Sue took some really lovely pictures of Rave!!
Sue's girl Wagenblast's Ivaila Janyse Can/Am. TD earned her US. Tracking Dog title with a flying run. Way to go Nyse!!
April 5th, 2010
Rave did very well at her very first show. At just over a year of age Rave was Best of Opposite and Best of Breed to start her show career. She was happy and relaxed and we had fun in the ring.

September 21/ 09 Rave

September 5 & 6/09 Bernese Mountain Dog Club of Ontario's Specialty
"We had lots of fun at the Bernese Mountain Dog Club of Ontario's specialty on Sept. 5 and 6th. Granite won Best Male and Best in Sieger show while Rave's mom Buttercup was Best Female in Sieger show. Also Heike showed very well at her very first show - she was 2nd in her class at the Specialty. We took this picture after her bath the day before the show. We would also like to congratulate Sue Wilkinson and her girl Wagenblast's Ivaila Janyse who earned the first leg in Rally Novice"

"Pictured from left to right are Sieger Judge and Bernese Breeder Candy Konicki, Angela with Granite and Patty Gill with Rave's mom Buttercup."

During our Specialty show banquet I was thrilled to be awarded an Outstanding Service Award by the Bernese Mountain Dog Club of Canada for the various volunteer work I have done for the club over the years and was also thrilled to pick up Greti's Versatility Award.
June 26/09 Granite CD Title
Granite completed his Companion Dog title at the Bernese Mountain Dog Club of Canada Specialty show in Trios Riviers Quebec. He was High Score in class, one point off of the High In Trial score for both trials with scores of 193 1/2 and 195. We are now working on some Open work and also some drafting.

May 30,2009 - Rave arrives!
We traveled to New York and brought home a wonderful wiggly puppy named Rave. Thank you to Patty Gill for this precious girl. Visit Rave's web page to see how she grows.

April 26/09 Granite Obedience Trials
Granite was High Score in class and High score for a Working Dog and second place in class at the St. Catherines and District Obedience Club trials and gained two legs towards his Companion Dog title. He blew one trial while working on a really nice score by not coming the first time he was called. Too bad but that now gives us a chance to trial at our upcoming National Specialty show in Quebec.

28 January 2009 - The Wagenblast J Litter arrived.

1 January 2009

October 4th 2008
Granite takes Winners Dog at the Bernese Mountain Dog Club of Ontario
provincial Specialty show to finish his Championship in grand style.
With no coat I almost left him home that weekend - sure glad I didn't!!
Granite's half sister Janyse (daughter of Greti) also competed - it was her first show but she stacked up like a pro. Of course this was AFTER she had rolled and rolled and rolled in the grass just prior to entering the ring - such a party girl!!
October 3rd 2008
Greti and Granite both tried Rally at the match put on by the Bernese Club of Ontario.
None of us had ever done this before but it was great fun. Greti earned a High Score in Class ribbon and Granite would also have had a High Score ribbon if I had not made us miss a station giving us a non-qualifying score. Oh well it was fun and we supported the club.
May 4th 2008
Greti earns her Draft Dog title. Combined with her Championship and Companion Dog titles this new title qualifies her as a Versatility Dog!!
